Jay Dabhi is an undeniably hot, hot, hot ingredient in the US club scene. He is a force to be reckoned with and has been dubbed ”America’s #1 South Asian D.J.” by promoters and partygoers alike because of his outstanding sizzling beats and track record. ”Being consistent is key,” according to Dabhi and that is what makes him the best in the business. Besides composing and mixing, he feels that the most exhilarating part of his work is performing; nothing for Dabhi compares to mixing tunes under the lights of a packed and jumping nightspot. The emotion he feels while observing the crowds’ reactions to his presentations is second to none.

Although Dabhi has garnered many accolades, he isn’t above appreciating each accomplishment, big or small. He doesn’t take anything for granted. Of his triumphs, he states, ”Two recent ones [accomplishments] that come to mind are: A remix of mine in Xbox’s Dance Dance Revolution 3 video game and my track ”Mumbai After Dark” reaching number one on the BBC Asian Network chart this past year.” The mix-master credits God and his family for his victories.

At the moment, he is in the early stages of recording an album. The album is currently nameless and he explains, ”The name will come to me as the album begins to take shape.” In addition to recording, Dabhi also has an Australian tour in the works. He dreams that one day, ”I will be able to play music in my parents’ homeland of India”. In fact, Dabhi is looking forward to traveling more for his work and spreading his music across the globe.

Although born in the US, Dabhi’s culture is a major influence on his body of work and his traditions contribute a diverse perspective to his music. He clarifies, ”My cultural background supplies an assortment of sounds that I utilize in order to add depth and diversity to my tunes ”.

Dabhi is humbled and flattered to be chosen as one of Bibi’s Sexiest South Asian Men. He jokes, ”I better hit the gym harder now to live up to the title. ” His girlfriend joins in the fun and games by adding, ”One of the sexiest? Jay’s THE sexiest! He is an extremely attractive person inside and out. ” Dabhi insists that he has never really considered himself to be sexy and adds, ”I just think of myself as a man dedicated to his craft, God, his family and friends. Maybe that is what sexy is--being confident, well-rounded and helpful to others. ” That sounds pretty sexy to us Mr. Dabhi!
