When we last saw Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn), they were fervently trying to escape Guantanamo Bay after being mistaken for terrorists. In the third installment of the Harold and Kumar series, “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas,” the duo is back in a smoke-filled haze of a 3D adventure.

The movie begins six years after Guantanamo and the best friends are now estranged as Kumar continues to live a weed-filled existence while Harold has married his girlfriend from series two, Maria (Paula Gracés), and has moved into a house in the suburbs. While Harold is fervently trying to please his father-in-law with a perfect Christmas, Kumar receives a mysterious package at his apartment postmarked for Harold.

Kumar decides to deliver the package to Harold with the help of his friend Adrian (Amir Blumenfeld) who has his own mission of deflowering a girl he has met on the internet. In the hilarious events that follow, Harold burns down his father-in-law’s prized Christmas tree, the duo end up being chased by Russian gangsters, Santa gets shot and a baby gets completely stoned off of weed, cocaine and ecstasy, and that’s just the beginning.

Of course, Neil Patrick Harris makes his over-the-top cameo and the movie, filmed in 3D, is a must-see for the holiday season. Filled with amazing effects filmed brilliantly in 3D, director Todd Strauss-Schulson takes the genre and the series to a whole new level. “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas” is inadvertently timely with references to current event, hilarious with its HIGH jinks, and appropriately so wrong for the holiday season…and that’s the very reason why we love it! Our recommendation, drop that wrapping paper and go see the movie as soon as you can!
