On March 23, 2016, Prada in the Houston Galleria hosted a cocktail reception to support The Asian Pacific American Heritage Association (APAHA), a non-profit organization registered in the State of Texas. APAHA’s organizational mission is to promote the Asian/Pacific American heritage and accomplishments through awareness, celebration, and education. The event was also a kickoff to APAHA’s upcoming gala, themed “Dancing with the APAHA Stars.”
APAHA President Nelvin Adriatico-Thadhani introduced this year’s three honorees: Judge Theresa Chang, Munira Panjwani, and ABC 13. The event also revealed Houston’s “celebrity dancers” who will be performing live at the gala: Former Sheriff Adrian Garcia, Anika Jackson, Monica Patel, and Marc Nguyen. These individuals were selected for their involvement in the Houston community and their philanthropic endeavors. APAHA’s 24th Anniversary Gala will be held on May 21, 2016 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston. A percentage of Prada store sales from March 23rd to 27th went to support APAHA.
Spotted at APAHA’s kickoff reception were: Tabitha Smith, Christina Zhou of Houston’s Asian Chamber of Commerce, Marc and Duyen Huynh Nguyen, Viet Hoang of Yellow Magazine, Sneha and Nick Merchant, Anika Jackson, Amy Dichoso, Krish Arora, Tatiana Massey of Laboratoria, Wayne Nguyen, Alice Mao and Matthew Brams, Rose Chen and David Webster, Sippi Khurana, Chau Nguyen, Noreen Khan-Mayberry, and Nina Magon.
Sneha Merchant is this year’s APAHA Gala chairwoman.
